JEREMIAH 31:7
"For thus saith The LORD: Sing with gladness for Jacob, and shout among the chief of the nations: publish ye, praise ye, and say, O LORD, save thy people, the remnant of Israel”. (Jeremiah 31:7)
By Dr. and Mrs. Elias E. Hidalgo
From the beginning of time, The Almighty God has chosen certain individuals like Jeremiah, to carry out and publish His Holy and Precious Word. Here, we have The Prophet Jeremiah, called and commissioned, by the inspiration of God, to speak words of comfort and hope to the House of Israel that are held captive in Babylon, and also to prophesy of Israel's future restoration. God's Message to Israel were thoughts of love, not of evil, to give them an expected (tikvah-hope) end. (Jeremiah 29:11).
As our Lord did to their fathers in delivering them out of Egypt, so also, He brought them forth with an out stretched arm from Babylon. Many times we have read that The Lord God delivered His people out of the hands of their enemies. And with confidence, we know that Israel will have the victory over those that terrorize them today and in the future. The Lord will bring peace and safety unto Israel.
In Jeremiah 31:7, we are reminded to bring our petitions unto God for the Salvation of Israel to be accomplished ..."O Lord, save thy people, the remnant of Israel". Daily, our hearts break forth in a cry unto The Almighty God, that He will give them the ‘faith’ that they need in understanding that Y'shua is their Salvation.
Of course, in The Book of Jeremiah, we have the presence of Messiah implied, Who will usher in peace, joy, and gladness for Jacob. What a wonderful day that will be for the House of Israel, that are alive at His coming.
Why will God keep His promise to a rebellious people? It is because of His Relationship towards Israel mentioned in Jeremiah 31:3. The Lord says that He has..."loved Israel with an everlasting love, therefore, with loving-kindness have I drawn thee". There is great hope for Israel in the latter days, for He will redeem them as He forgives all of their sins. We do rejoice with God's chosen ones, and pray for the day of their Salvation to come soon.
We thank The Lord for His Mercy that He has extended to each one of us in forgiving our sins since the time when we called upon Him to be our Lord and Saviour.
Throughout history, even in our days, The Lord God is gathering Jewish, as well as, Gentile individuals through The Righteousness of Messiah (Y'shua-Jesus).
May we continue to show forth mercy to others through the publishing of the Good News of Salvation. God is faithful to bring forth the increase. The Lord God has set Watchmen (Watchwomen) upon the Walls of Jerusalem to intercede for His people Israel. Jeremiah, Isaiah, were among many, as well as, others like ourselves at Shalom Scripture Studies.
We are told in Isaiah 62 that the Watchmen were never to hold their peace day nor night, and that they were not to keep silent until Israel is established as a praise in the Earth. May we be encouraged to be of the same frame of mind, never to give up, and never keep silent.
The Word of God does encourage us never to grow weary in our service, especially in our prayer life unto The Lord. May we be like Jacob when he said ..."I will not let thee go except thou bless me". (Genesis 32:26). The Lord God heard his cry, and answered in blessing him and his seed abundantly.
"Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee”.
