A FEAST DAY OF THE LORD:
ROSH HA-SHANNAH (HEAD OF THE YEAR), also known as the Feast of Trumpets, is one of seven holy days recorded in Leviticus 23.
This year (2005), The Jewish New Year falls on the evening of October the 3rd which ushers in the year of 5766.
We are living in troublesome times around the world, especially in the Middle East.
Even in our own country (U.S.A.), the devastation that Katrina and Rita have brought upon our Gulf States is terrible, to say the least. Our prayers for each family that have been touched by the devastation of these hurricanes are indeed urgent and necessary before The Lord. We ask God to help those that are suffering, that they may draw close to our Lord, Who is the healer of the breach, and the balm of Gilead.
A few days prior to the above, we also noticed on television the heartache in the Land of Israel where over 10,000 Jewish individuals were displaced from Gaza at the urging of our country, and all for 'temporal' peace, that already has been broken several times by the Arabs in that area.
We are reminded in Genesis 12: 3, that The Lord Himself made a covenant promise to father Abraham and re-confirmed it unto Isaac and Jacob, 'I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee'.
Is it possible that our country has suffered so much lately because we have in fact allowed the Israelis to suffer immensely in kicking them out of their (Gaza) Land that God gave them long ago?
There is probably several reasons why these recent calamities have come upon us, as a Nation, one of which we have outlined (above), there is also the murder (abortion) of children, homo-sexuality, debauchery in general that is rampant in our beloved country.
Oh Lord, help us as a Nation to recognize our sins and repent before it is too late.
In the midst of it all, we can surely thank The Lord for His mercies 'that are new every morning', and elevate our prayers unto Him day and night for His compassion and grace, until our Messiah returns for us to gather us unto Himself, where we (believers) will dwell with Him forever more. Even so, come Lord Jesus.
Isaiah 62:1-7, is truly a portion of Scripture to encourage and challenge us to be faithful in our prayers for Israel that they might be saved. The Lord says .... I HAVE SET WATCHMEN UPON THY WALLS, O JERUSALEM. We thank The Lord that we can be His Watchmen and women.
As we start the Jewish New Year, we are reminded that Israel needs our prayers more than ever.
Isaiah 62 is full of comfort for Israel and the future wonderful blessings that she will receive, and in turn will be a blessing upon the whole earth.
Long ago, God appointed Isaiah to PRAY AND WATCH, that is, to be a WATCHMAN FOR ISRAEL. The Lord has also called out individuals, like ourselves, Jewish and Gentiles, that love Him and love what He loves, that is, to PRAY and PRESENT the MESSAGE OF COMFORT (Isaiah 40) to the house of Israel.
We see that Isaiah was a DETERMINED man. Although he did not live to see the release of Israel from being captive of Babylon nor see the good news of grace through the Messiah. He was finally blessed when Y'shua brought captivity captive, that is, when He descended to the lower parts of the earth, called, Abraham's bosom, to present Himself to the house of Israel and Isaiah was there - this was part of the restoration for Israel that God had promised to give them as recorded by the Prophet Isaiah.
When Yshua (Jesus) appears the second time as Messiah and Saviour for Israel there will also be a remnant - for all Israel alive at that time shall be saved (Romans 11:26), but until then, we have our work cut out for us, because, DURING THIS CHURCH AGE, that we are living in, also known as the GRACE PERIOD, there is a remnant of Jewish believers within the body of Christ. To God be all the glory and honor.
Isaiah was faithful in what he was called to do. What was his call?
We find it in verse 1: that he was not to hold his peace, he says ... I will not rest until Israel's righteousness goes forth, and her salvation is a reality.
This should remind us that he was busy day and night until his earthly work was finished, through praying, teaching, and preaching the good and right way for Israel to go, that is, TO TRUST AND OBEY GOD.
He kept being faithful in the midst of a very difficult time for the house of Israel. He was a faithful witness and prayer warrior to the end of his life.
Isaiah's mission was to bring a MESSAGE OF COMFORT, meaning, that Israels RIGHTEOUSNESS AND SALVATION was coming ... because the Lord God delighteth in Israel.
Isaiah was not going to cease from praying and preaching until this would come to pass. HE WAS DETERMINED NOT TO GIVE UP AND ALSO TO continue ENCOURAGING ISRAEL (his Brethren) IN WORD AND DEED, even though he himself needed encouragement also.
God reminds us that it is an act of kindness and well doing when we remember Israel, and others, with their Spiritual and also physical needs. He promises us that in due time and season, we are going to reap, if we faint not (Galatians 6: 9).
Never mind what people say, or how you feel, or what is happening all around, for all of this will detract and discourage us.
We will keep trusting The Lord, because we want Him to delight in us and also we want to experience the blessings that He has for us and others.
THE WORD OF GOD makes us strong and helps us to be FAITHFUL AND DETERMINED, like the Prophet Isaiah. God is our helper, especially, when we give ourselves to Him and hide His precious Word deep in our hearts. It is good also to memorize and mediate on His Word day and night. It becomes a Lamp unto our feet, and a light unto our path. (Psalm 119).
Israel is dear to the heart of God ... God's Word tells us that she is ... the apple of God's eye ... In verses 3-5, we read that she is a crown of glory, a royal diadem, He delights in her.
How long should we CRY for her? How long should we labor together in prayer for Israel that they might be saved. The answer is this, ... Until her righteousness go forth and her salvation be accomplished until Jesus comes into their heart, and until we take our last breath. The Lord wants us to love what He loves, hate what he hates. He has called us to pray for a people that He loves, (the children of Israel) ... BECAUSE HE DELIGHTS IN HER. HE IS GOING TO GIVE HER A NEW NAME. Israel's name will be called HEPHZIBAH (which means, My delight is in her), and BEULAH (which signifies married).
God's delight is to marry Israel. All of Israel's remnant, as a people and land, will some day be married to The Lord eternally. The Lord delights to do her good, just like He does for believers in Jesus, today ... we all are married to the Lord and some day we will be with Him and enjoy His presence and glory forever.
The Marriage Feast that HE has prepared for us who love The Lord will be complete.
Israel will be called GOD's CROWN. When God took Israel to be His people they were to be for His glory and praise.
Once again He will rejoice over them. Israel as a Nation, has not been DELIVERED YET. Thus God has set Watch men and women LIKE US TO CONTINUE TO PRAY (read verse 7). Today there is a chosen REMNANT OF ISRAEL and we are called by The Lord to be His witnesses and prayer warriors for them.
When we are obedient to His call, we will be blessed to see or hear of some of the Jewish people being delivered from their sins and being a praise and blessing to The Lord.
For God does not lie, but will confirm and perform all of His Word. He will answer according to His good, acceptable and perfect pleasure. We are God's cultivated field of Watch men and women for Jewish and Gentile souls to be saved. We will personally be blessed. The Lord God promises that He will bless them that bless Israel (the Jewish people).
