THE FEAST OF TABERNACLES
As the Sun goes down on the evening of the 29th of September, 2004 the wonderful Feast of Tabernacles (Booths) is ushered in, and for seven days according to Leviticus 23: 33-44, the people of Israel are to dwell in booths. Imagine, receiving such direction from The Lord so that He could remind His people, year after year, that they were brought 'out of the land of Egypt (a type and symbol of sin)', and brought into the land of Promise, which floweth with milk and honey.
This Feast of The Lord, as it is called in Scripture, is of paramount interest and importance to us as believers in our Lord Jesus Christ. Why? Because, it's ultimate fulfillment is yet to come to pass. Most of the other Feasts of the Lord as mentioned in the book of Leviticus chapter 23, have already been fulfilled, historically and spiritually. Yet, The Feast of Booths has it's ultimate conclusion in the affairs of mankind when The Messiah returns in all of His glory and power (Zechariah chapter 14).
Remember when you placed your faith and trust in Jesus Christ as your Lord? It was then that you were taken out of bondage and became a new creation (II Corinthians 5:17). We need to be reminded, day by day of our great salvation, as we behold 'the glory as of the only begotten of the Father', our Y'shua (Jesus), Who is 'King of kings, and Lord of lords'.
In Revelation 21: 3, we read ... 'And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle (booth) of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself shall be with them, and be their God'. We look forward to the day when you and I enter His eternal 'tabernacle (booth)', and, 'God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes'.
THE FOUNDATION OF TRUTH
Almost two thousand years ago this question was asked that has resounded down through the ages, 'What is truth'? (John 18: 38) When Jesus our Lord was being interrogated by a Gentile man named Pilate, he said, 'Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the TRUTH.
Every one that is of the TRUTH heareth my voice.' (John 18: 37). The world system today is still asking the question, 'what is truth', while it is before their eyes continually, they ignorantly refuse to recognize Who is Truth. We thank The Lord that He has opened our eyes of understanding that we might know and believe in Him (Jesus our Lord) as our 'way...TRUTH...and, life' (John 14: 6).
As the Prophet Isaiah (Isaiah 28: 14-16), was warning the rulers of Jerusalem because of their scorn (disobedience) towards The Almighty God, He also was giving them an opportunity to repent and turn to Jehovah as he wrote,
.... 'therefore thus saith the Lord God, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure FOUNDATION: he that believeth shall not make haste' (that is, they won't have to run away and hide, but rather their belief in this 'stone' whom we know to be our Messiah, will bring them into favor with God). We hear the expression so often that indeed is a truism for today, 'you can't see the forest for the tree'.
It seems that humanity in general has blinders when it comes to the foundation and truth of the Gospel (the death, burial and resurrection of our Messiah). As Shalom Scripture Studies continues propagating the TRUTH of our Lord Jesus Christ through the media of television, Internet, literature, Services and personal conversations, it seems as if individuals are still asking that old question, 'What is truth'?
The foundation of truth has been presented so clear and concise, and yet, there is still rejection and refusal to accept the Truth. Yet, we must continue 'in well doing' and 'faint not' (Galatians 6: 6-10).
THE FAITH OF TODAY
'For by grace are ye saved through FAITH; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them'. (Ephesians 2: 8-10).
The Almighty God's grace and gift to us is our eternal salvation, conversely, our offering today and everyday unto Him is our good works. A procrastinator once said, 'why do today, what I can do tomorrow'. How many of us have said and done this very thing?
You probably noticed the title to our devotional, 'the faith of today'. Not yesterday's faith, no, not even tomorrow's faith, but rather, TODAY. One of the attributes of our Lord and God is that He is, 'Long-suffering' (that is, Patient in His Glorious and Infinite character).
On the other hand, we should never take advantage of His Kindness, Mercy, Compassion and Tenderness, by not doing TODAY in FAITH what we should. You see, each one of us as God's children have a definite and absolute mission to perform TODAY, a work of FAITH that not only is pleasing to our LORD but will also accomplish His purposes in your life, and in the lives of others.
Example: Many of our television programs were taped in Minnesota in the dead of winter, and we mean WINTER, with temperatures sometimes hovering way below zero. Oh how we were tempted time and time again not to tape our program TODAY because it's snowing, freezing, and, the weather overall was terrible. Maybe we should wait until 'tomorrow'.
Well, thanks be unto our LORD that we decided to go ahead in FAITH, because these same Gospel programs are being aired today from New York to California, and from Minnesota to Missouri, day after day. Thank you Lord for your GIFT of Faith, and our obedience to your call.
THE FRUITS OF TOMORROW
Shalom Scripture Studies as a ministry entered it's thirtieth year this past June the 1st, and as such, much reminiscing and nostalgic moments of the past have come into our thoughts. Such as, Scriptural and spiritual seeds that were planted long ago, what has happened and what is the end result in the lives of so many individuals that have come and gone through our doors.
Actually, what really got us thinking about this came in the form of an E-mail from a lady that said to us, that twenty-eight years ago when we were ministering in Orange, California, she and her three children attended our Services, she went on to say that 'the seeds of faith' that had been planted long ago, had brought forth much fruit over the years. Well, we can't tell you how excited we (the Shalom staff) were when we read such a beautiful letter sent to us over the Internet. How encouraging, thank you LORD.
One can only begin to imagine the numbers of people that have entered our doors at Shalom Scripture Studies, entered our doors via our programs on Television, entered our doors over the avenue of the Internet, would we be exaggerating if we said thousands?
Not really, but more than simply the numbers, what about the FRUITS of our labour? Today, we know of countless individuals in full-time faith ministry as a direct result of our ministry before our Lord, also, many lives that have been changed, some for salvation, others for sanctification and yet others for service unto The Almighty.
Yes, the fruits of tomorrow are still coming in, one by one, and we give all glory to our Blessed and Wonderful Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ, Whom to know is life eternal.
We also want to take a brief moment to thank each one of you (our associate members) for your love, prayers and financial support that continues to allow our ministry to stand fast for His Kingdom, until He comes for us. Shalom (Peace) in our Blessed Saviour, Y'shua (Jesus).
Shalom Scripture Studies appreciates your prayers & support.
