On July the 4th, 2004 we will be celebrating our 228th year as a Nation, while Israel observes its 56th year of re-birth since May the 14th, 1948.
Both countries are fighting terrorism everyday, and many young soldiers continue losing their lives for the cause of freedom.
Have you wondered why so many Nations and individuals despise both the Americans and the Israelis?
Why do so many desire the total annihilation of those who believe in The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob?
Could it be that The Messiah of Israel (The Lord Jesus Christ) has become a stone of stumbling for them?
If we are honest with ourselves, who would have predicted the wanton savagery that we are confronted with almost daily on the News media?
Imagine we send our troops thousands of miles away to an unfamiliar place to help liberate and rebuild Nation after Nation, and what gratitude do we receive?
Death and mayhem is the offering with which we are recompensed with by many wicked and malicious individuals, as we offer them hope and peace.
We as a country have never experienced such ingratitude, and yet we press on with our head held high as we give our expertise to bolster a devastated country such as Iraq and Afghanistan, as we also have done in many other places in the world.
We would like to remind ourselves that many years ago there was a Nation such as ours composed of Jewish people. The Nation of Israel also experienced discouragement and despair when they were of help and hope to many individuals; they also experienced much wickedness thrown at them from every side.
In The Holy Bible there is an account of grand proportion whose events almost sound as if it were written for today.
PSALM 83
A Song or Psalm of Asaph.
Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God.
For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head.
They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones.
They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.
For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee:
The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes;
Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre;
DID YOU NOTICE?
Did you happen to notice (though this was written hundreds of years ago), that the very Nations that are troublesome today are the same people that continue to cause calamity and heartache to both America and Israel.
For example, the Ishmaelites are the present day Arabs, the Philistines (some consider) to be the so called Palestinians.
The rest of the countries all reside (today) in the Middle East and they are arguably confederate together against The God of Israel and His Beloved Son, The Lord Jesus Christ.
Is it any wonder that the hatred that we see and witness today is in reality against Christianity and Judaism.
Many countries that have taken the road of neutrality (such as France, Germany and many others), which by the way we (America) saved their necks once and again, think that by appeasing the terrorist, they themselves will be saved from harm and danger.
They are but fooling themselves, as they will receive a just retribution from their enemies that they are courting by their lack of offense against terrorism.
May The Lord help us, because as Islam once ruled the known world (long ago), the haters of The One True God (The Lord Jesus Christ), will not rest until they have conquered and destroyed the infidels. According to the Koran, an infidel is any Nation or individual that does not acquiesce in their old time religion.
So, what can we do as a Nation and as individuals to rid ourselves of this cancer?
We need to unite in prayer as together we support our Nation, and especially our troops as they are in harms way.
The Holy Scriptures (both the Old and New Testament) shine forth the blessed hope of salvation and the prospect of eternal bliss, as we receive and believe Gods gift, The Lord Jesus Christ.
THE GOSPEL OF JOHN (CHAPTER 1)
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
The same was in the beginning with God.
All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all [men] through him might believe.
He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
